MEDAN – USU PR – Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) announced that it will proceed with the selection process for all applicants to the 2026 Indonesia Smart College Card (KIP Kuliah) scholarship through the National Selection Based on Test (SNBT) admission pathway.
The announcement was made by Prof. Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, S.Si., M.Si., Apt., Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Alumni, on Thursday (June 25, 2026) at the Universitas Sumatera Utara campus.
According to Prof. Poppy, based on a letter issued by the Center for Higher Education Funding and Assessment (PPAPT) No. 1149/PPAPT.1.1/KIP-K/V/2026 concerning the Determination of Prospective Recipients of the Indonesia Smart Program for Higher Education through the 2026 SNBT Pathway, dated June 2, 2026, a total of 402 prospective KIP Kuliah recipients were declared eligible to participate in the 2026 KIP Kuliah selection process through the SNBT pathway.
During the period of June 2–15, 2026, the Scholarship Management Team conducted document verification for all prospective recipients. Based on the verification results, six students did not complete the registration process, while 396 students successfully completed their registration.
The next stage of the selection process is a home survey and verification visit to the residences of prospective recipients across regencies and municipalities in North Sumatra. Each verification team will conduct field visits or online interviews with approximately 15 to 30 students. These verification activities will take place from June to July 2026.
Prof. Poppy encouraged applicants who have not yet been declared successful as prospective KIP Kuliah recipients not to lose hope. She emphasized that many other scholarship opportunities remain available through Universitas Sumatera Utara, the government, and partner institutions.
"Stay motivated and continue striving for scholarship opportunities that match your qualifications and needs," she said.
Prof. Poppy also stressed that all stages of the KIP Kuliah selection process are completely free of charge. She warned applicants to be cautious of individuals claiming to represent the Ministry, the University, or other institutions who promise successful admission in exchange for money, emphasizing that such practices constitute illegal extortion.
"Therefore, we urge everyone to remain vigilant and immediately report any such incidents to the Directorate of Student Admissions and Services," she emphasized.
