The Universitas Sumatera Utara as one of the largest universities on the island of Sumatra and included in the ranks of the Ministry of Education and Culture's version of the Cluster 1 non-vocational university, certainly does not want to lose the opportunity to dedicate itself and directly contribute to development. With the momentum of Community Service activities that have been carried out for years, the Universitas Sumatera Utara has built many things through its educators in the midst of society. These contributions are in the form of physical and non-physical, material and non-material, have bound science to become a means of improving people's lives, especially those living in disadvantaged areas.
Through the inaugural edition of the new website of the Universitas Sumatera Utara, in the community service section we will present several community service activities that have been carried out by lecturers from various disciplines at the Universitas Sumatera Utara. One of them is what USU's lecturers are divided into 7 working groups, which take up the community service area in Kampung Nelayan Seberang, a settlement on the water right on the outskirts of the Belawan sea coast.
The area of Seberang Fisherman's Village, located in Belawan I Neighborhood, Medan Belawan District, is quite difficult to access by outsiders. To reach this village, it is not easy. We have to navigate the sea using a small motor boat that leans a lot on the Belawan pier. This condition has resulted in Seberang Fisherman Village becoming an area experiencing a slowdown in infrastructure development and the community's economy.
