About PPDGS

The Specialist Dentist Education Program (PPDGS) is an advanced program for Bachelor of Dentistry (S.Kg.) who want to explore and become professionals in certain fields of dental science. This program is designed to provide more in-depth training and education as well as specialization in various fields of dental science. PPDGS USU enables dentists to develop clinical and scientific expertise according to their interests and passions. Participants will follow a curriculum that includes lectures, intensive clinical training, and dental research and development. Participants will also be supported by experienced and expert teaching staff in their respective fields as well as the latest medical facilities to ensure they get quality education and meet international specialization standards.

PPDGS aims to produce competent dentists who have high academic abilities, capable of providing advanced specialist dental services, and can contribute to the development of dentistry through research and innovation. This program is a valuable opportunity for dentists to hone their skills and have a career as a specialist in their field, as well as provide the best service for society. Dentistry graduates or students who already hold the S.Kg. degree can register on the official website of PPDGS USU https://penerimaanppdgs.usu.ac.id.

The following are the registration stages for the Universitas Sumatera Utara PPDGS:

  1. Online Registration (May 30–June 20, 2023): Registration is done through the official PPDS USU website, https://penerimaanppdgs.usu.ac.id. This process includes document input and registration fee payment.
  2. Document Selection Announcement (June 26–30, 2023): After the evaluation process is completed, the document selection announcement will be posted on the official website of PPDGS USU or USU's official social media. This announcement will include the list of prospective students eligible for the next selection stage.
  3. MMPI (July 4, 2023): Candidates will undergo the first test, the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) test, which is generally used for psychological assessment, especially in clinical assessment and career placement.
  4. TOEFL (July 5, 2023): The TOEFL test for prospective PPDGS students is intended to assess the English language proficiency of prospective students since PPDGS often utilizes English as a learning medium, especially in academic literature, presentations, and communication with international individuals.
  5. Psychometric Test (July 6, 2023): After passing the MMPI test, candidates will take the psychometric test on the specified date.
  6. CBT (July 10, 2023): The final selection that candidates will take is the computer-based test (CBT) examination, an examination conducted electronically using a computer as the testing tool. This test is one of the stages to assess the academic abilities of prospective PPDS students.
  7. OSCE and Interview (July 11–14, 2023): This stage aims to assess the interpersonal skills, motivation, commitment, academic potential, and professionalism of prospective students in their chosen specialization field.
  8. Acceptance Announcement (July 21, 2023): After all the PPDGS participants have completed the entire selection process above, the acceptance announcement will be immediately conveyed through the official PPDGS USU website, https://penerimaanppdgs.usu.ac.id.
