This community service focuses on fulfilling the civil rights of children with disabilities in Sunggal Subdistrict, Deli Serdang Regency. Through counseling and assistance, the program helps families understand children’s rights, obtain legal identity, and improve access to government services.

Community service is one of the obligations that must be carried out by every lecturer at universities as part of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. The title of this community service activity is Fulfilling the Civil Rights of Children with Disabilities in Sunggal Subdistrict, Deli Serdang Regency. This program was implemented for six months, starting from the proposal preparation stage to the writing of the activity report.

Counseling and assistance were provided to families in Sunggal Subdistrict, Deli Serdang Regency, who have children with disabilities whose civil rights have not yet been fulfilled. The activity was facilitated by the Sunggal Subdistrict Office.

The implementation of this community service was attended by families in Sunggal Subdistrict who have children with disabilities that do not yet possess legal identity documents such as birth certificates and Child Identity Cards (KIA), and who require counseling and assistance.

The expected outcomes of this program are:

  1. Families gain knowledge and awareness of children’s civil rights, including equal rights for children with disabilities.

  2. Families receive assistance for children with disabilities who do not yet have identity documents, ensuring that they obtain birth certificates and KIAs.

  3. Counseling participants gain awareness that every child has equal civil rights.

  4. Counseling and assistance participants are able to utilize access provided through the Population and Civil Registry Office of Deli Serdang Regency to obtain identity documents for children with disabilities.

  5. Counseling and assistance are carried out to enhance the fulfillment of civil rights for children with disabilities.
