“USU is committed to building a China-Indonesia Skilled Talent Development Center on our campus. This center will be a venue for preparing skilled Indonesian workers, with international-standard curricula and training equipment, but still enriched with local content,” said Prof. Muryanto Amin in Medan.

HUMAS USU – The University of Sumatera Utara (USU) has stated its commitment to supporting the establishment of the China-Indonesia Skilled Talent Development Center. This training center will be built within the USU environment as a result of a collaboration with Inner Mongolia Technical University Construction (IMTUC) and China Construction Fourth Division Corp. Ltd (CCFDC).

This cooperation plan is a follow-up to the 2025 Inner Mongolia Conference on High-Quality Development of Education Opening-Up, which was recently held in Hohhot, the capital of Inner Mongolia Province, China. The conference brought together university representatives from China, Indonesia, Russia, Mongolia, Egypt, and Thailand, focusing on the internationalization of education and strengthening cooperation among partner countries. At the forum, USU was invited as a representative from Indonesia.

The USU Rector, Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si., affirmed that the training center to be built is a concrete step for USU in preparing excellent Indonesian human resources.

“USU is committed to building a China-Indonesia Skilled Talent Development Center on our campus. This center will be a venue for preparing skilled Indonesian workers, with international-standard curricula and training equipment, but still enriched with local content,” said Prof. Muryanto Amin in Medan.

In the initial phase, this training center will focus on the construction sector with a combined team of instructors from USU and IMTUC. The training equipment will be imported directly from China. CCFDC, a Chinese-based international construction company with many projects in Indonesia, is expected to employ around 3,000 Indonesian workers who have been trained at this center.

Furthermore, the USU Rector explained that the training center will continue to be developed according to needs. “In the future, this center will be expanded to other fields such as electric cars, agriculture, mining, and artificial intelligence. We are also preparing a joint degree and double degree scheme with IMTUC, so that USU students can pursue two years of study in Medan and two years of study in China, with a strong foundation in Mandarin,” he added.

On the same occasion, the Director of the Directorate of Internationalization and Global Partnerships of USU, Prof. Dr. Eng. Himsar Ambarita ST., MT, was present and delivered a presentation titled "China-Indonesia International Exchange and Cooperation."

The technical details of this cooperation will be discussed further between USU, IMTUC, and CCFDC. USU is optimistic that the presence of this training center will make a tangible contribution to improving the quality of Indonesia's human resources, while also strengthening USU's role at the global level.
