“To achieve all of this, we must immediately lay the foundation for adaptive and agile governance, respond swiftly to change, and make sound decisions. As leaders, I also expect you to enhance your managerial capabilities, particularly your technical skills, so that you are able to understand problems and resolve them in the best possible way,” emphasized the Rector of USU.
USU PR – The Rector of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si., officially inaugurated the new vice rectors and university secretary on Monday (March 2, 2026) at the Digital Learning Center Building. The inauguration ceremony also marked the continuation of USU’s leadership into the second term of Rector Prof. Mury.
The appointed vice rectors are Prof. Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Z. Hasibuan, SSi, MSi, Apt as Vice Rector I for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Alumni Relations; Dr. Arifin Nasution, S.Sos., M.S.P., as Vice Rector II for Human Resources, Finance, and Information Systems; Prof. Dr. Eng., Himsar Ambarita, S.T., M.T., as Vice Rector III for Research, Innovation, and Cooperation; and Dr. Muhammad Anggia Muchtar, S.T., MM.IT., as Vice Rector IV for Planning, Infrastructure, and Business. In addition to the vice rectors, Ir. Ikhsan Siregar, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D., was also inaugurated as University Secretary.
In his remarks, the Rector stressed that the newly appointed vice rectors and university secretary must consistently work hard to realize the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. “First, we must be able to produce graduates who are beneficial to industry and society. Second, we must disseminate knowledge for the advancement of human civilization and also serve as role models in upholding integrity, ethics, morals, and proper conduct,” he stated.
Prof. Mury further explained that as university officials, the vice rectors and secretary should enhance collaboration, work collectively, and avoid complacency regarding achievements that have already been attained.
“To accomplish all of this, we must immediately establish adaptive and agile governance, respond quickly to change, and make appropriate decisions. As leaders, I also expect you to strengthen your managerial capabilities, particularly technical skills, so that you can fully understand issues and resolve them effectively,” he reaffirmed.
The Rector also highlighted that strong teamwork is essential to accelerate the university’s ranking progress both nationally and globally. Prof. Mury noted that Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) is currently in Cluster III, with a target of advancing to Cluster I.
“With the strategies that have been formulated, I hope we all exert extraordinary effort to generate innovations. Strive to give your best, avoid excessive complaints, and contribute in tangible ways,” he asserted.
Prof. Mury also reminded the newly inaugurated officials to safeguard the trust entrusted to them. The oath they have taken carries consequences not only before others but also for themselves and, above all, before Almighty God.
“I extend my congratulations. May Allah SWT grant you the strength to carry out the mandate entrusted to you. Continuously improve yourselves and always think positively so that we are able to face future challenges,” Prof. Mury concluded.
