USU PR - Various Faculties of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held the second day of the New Student Campus Introduction (PKKMB) with a series of activities, on Saturday (19/08/2023).

On this second day of PKKMB, the Faculty of Forestry carried out a tree planting action on Campus 2 USU, in Kwala Bekala. This activity focuses on making a product or material from forest products that has economic value.

Dr. Edy Ikhsan, SH, MA, as Vice Rector I for Academic, Student Affairs, and Alumni Affairs, expressed his appreciation to the Dean and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Forestry for organizing Campus 2 well.

"I saw the extraordinary work of the dean and his staff. The arrangement, then the grass is green. Earlier, the hot atmosphere sought a way out how the hot air was not trapped," said Dr. Edy.

Director of Student Achievement and Alumni Relations, Doli Muhammad Jafar Dalimunthe SE, M.Si., revealed that a transformation begins with one's character.

"We are very concerned about building character because, without character, creativity will not emerge so that in the end this creativity is not converted into champions. Where our job as a university is to give birth to achievements," said the Director of Ditmawalumni.

The Director of Ditmawalumni advised new students to take advantage of all the opportunities available, one of which is participating in the Independent Learning - Independent Campus (MBKM) program.

"Try to get various choices, opportunities that exist scholarships, then participate in MBKM and so on. I tell them to change the pattern of learning from individuals to groups, which is very fitting in the pattern of higher education," he added.

On the same occasion, the Chairman of the PKKMB Committee of the Faculty of Forestry, Teuku Bintang, revealed that the committee held a Tour of The Faculty by carrying out various activities, namely Cultivation (BDH), Forest Products Technology (THH), Forest Products Management (MNH), and Conservation of Forest Products (KSH).

"So here the activities are planting which will be related to the cultivation department. The second is management, so because this management is related to current technology, the activities of these younger siblings make videos about the planter. Third, in forest product technology, the younger siblings' task is to make tools, materials, or products that can be produced, and have economic value from these plants. The fourth is KSH, which is the conservation of forest products, so this sister will take a tour of the second campus.

Consisting of 16 faculties held various series of PKKMB events on the second day. Among them are the Faculty of Public Health (FKM), Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB), and Faculty of Forestry (FaHut). At FKM, they shared about the Independent Learning Independent Campus (MBKM) with the theme 'Agent of Change'. FIB conducts talent show activities for new students from their respective Study Programs.
