USU held a socialization session on performance indicators and priority programs to strengthen governance transformation and support the preparation of the 2026 revised work plan and budget.
Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held a Socialization of Performance Indicators and Priority Programs on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at the 8th floor of the Digital Learning Center Building (DLCB) as part of the preparation for the 2026 Revised Work Plan and Budget (RKAP).
In his remarks, USU Vice Rector for Planning, Infrastructure, and Business, Dr. Muhammad Anggia Muchtar, S.T., MM.IT., emphasized the importance of transforming university governance, particularly in planning, budgeting, and performance measurement.
According to him, universities need to shift from an administrative-oriented work pattern toward a performance- and impact-based approach. Therefore, every program must have targets, outputs, and outcomes aligned with Key Performance Indicators (IKU) and Program Performance Indicators (IKP).
“IKU does not measure how many activities are carried out, but how significant the impact is. Therefore, every program must have a clear connection with IKU and IKP,” he stated.
He explained that the number of IKU indicators has now increased from around 11–15 indicators to nearly 20 indicators along with their derivatives, adjusted to the characteristics of each university.
In addition, the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) concept is now directed toward indicators measuring student participation in off-campus activities. There is also a participatory IKU scheme that allows universities to choose certain indicators to achieve alongside mandatory indicators.
He also highlighted the addition of indicators related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Currently, five SDG indicators have been implemented, consisting of three mandatory indicators and two optional indicators.
“It is now mandatory. There are around five SDG indicators, three mandatory and two optional,” he explained.
The socialization discussed USU’s 2026–2031 Priority Programs, IKU, IKP, and preparations for the 2026 RKAP as strategic instruments to support the achievement of the university’s targets.
