Prof. Mury explained that USU continues to make every possible effort to ease the burden on disaster victims.

USU PR – Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) continues to carry out relief efforts for flood victims in Sumatra.

Through the USU Peduli Post, various forms of assistance have been collected and gradually distributed to flood victims in several affected regions up to Sunday (7/12/2025).

Rector of USU, Prof. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si., stated that the assistance provided by USU represents the university’s concern for communities affected by disasters across Sumatra. Through the USU Peduli Post, a dedicated aid account was opened, and a number of assistance packages have been distributed to eligible recipients.

Prof. Mury explained that USU continues to strive to the fullest extent possible to reduce the burden faced by disaster victims.

“Thank you for the trust shown by various parties who have channeled their assistance through the USU Peduli Post, including Kemendiktisaintek. Hopefully, this assistance can help ease the burden, even if only slightly,” said Prof. Mury.

Based on reports received, the USU Peduli Team has now reached several disaster-affected areas to distribute assistance directly on site.

The USU Medical Team, which was previously dispatched by the Vice Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Stella Christie, has arrived in Pandan, Central Tapanuli, along with medicines provided by Kemendiktisaintek.

The USU Peduli Team has also reached Aceh Tamiang Regency to distribute assistance from Kemendiktisaintek, which was received directly by local Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) personnel and subsequently distributed to residents in isolated areas who are in need.

In addition, the USU Medical Team is also providing health services in Aceh Tamiang Regency. Led by the Vice Dean II of the USU Faculty of Medicine, Dr. dr. Muara Panusunan Lubis, M.Ked(OG), Sp.OG(K), USU ensures that the academic community remains present and actively involved in supporting communities affected by the disaster.
