For the third time, the Universitas Sumatera Utara Scout Movement returned to Aceh Tamiang to deliver humanitarian aid, continuing its commitment to reaching disaster-affected communities along the Tamiang River.

ACEH TAMIANG – HUMAS: For the third time, members of the Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) Scout Movement set foot once again in Aceh Tamiang. This was not merely a journey, but a recurring humanitarian effort—retracing wounds, greeting hope, and delivering care to disaster-affected areas.

On Saturday morning, December 13, 2025, two vehicles fully loaded with logistics departed from Medan. On board, 12 personnel from the USU Scout Disaster Response Team carried more than 500 aid packages consisting of basic food supplies, ready-to-eat meals, mineral water, wearable clothing, floor mats, and household equipment. This third wave of aid distribution continued two previous missions conducted on December 5 and 7, 2025.

This mission focused on Kota Lintang Bawah Village, Kuala Simpang, as well as areas within Seumadam District. Kota Lintang Bawah Village is among the areas most severely affected by flooding in Aceh Tamiang. Its location directly along the banks of the Tamiang River left it exposed to relentless floodwaters. Residents’ houses collapsed, walls crumbled, and what remained were silent ruins bearing stories of loss.

Amid the devastation, the presence of USU Scouts was met by weary faces striving to endure. The assistance distributed was not only about meeting physical needs, but also about strengthening morale—a sign that they were not alone in facing the disaster.

Meanwhile, different challenges emerged in Seumadam. Several villages in the area had not yet been fully reached by aid. The USU Scout team therefore adopted a sweeping strategy, distributing logistics along the Medan–Banda Aceh route. Each aid package handed over became a small ray of light amid limited access and the long list of residents’ needs.

All logistics delivered were the result of collective efforts across regions and communities. Donations came from various sources, including Kitabisa.com, Al-Fityan School Medan, Ar-Rasyid Educational Institution, Scouts and Nature Lover Communities from North Gorontalo, as well as members of the general public who entrusted their care and solidarity.

For USU Scouts, this mission was not merely an organizational duty, but a tangible expression of the Scout Dasa Dharma lived through action. Amid mud, ruins, and long journeys, they learned that service often means returning—again and again—to the same place, until the wounds slowly find their way to fully heal.
