USU Public Relations – Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held an audience with its outstanding students at the Directorate of Student Achievement and Alumni Relations (DITMAWALUMNI), USU Rectorate Bureau, on Tuesday, September 30, 2025. This activity served as a platform for dialogue between the university leadership and students to present and discuss their recent academic and non-academic accomplishments.
Vice-Rector I for Academic, Student Affairs, and Alumni Relations, Prof. Dr. Edy Ikhsan, S.H., M.A., warmly welcomed the meeting and expressed his deep appreciation to the students who have successfully brought recognition to USU at local, national, and international levels. He emphasized that these achievements reflect the students’ dedication, capability, and perseverance—values that deserve to be recorded as part of USU’s history of excellence.
Prof. Edy Ikhsan further stated that the accomplishments of USU students serve as motivation for others to continue developing their skills and talents across various disciplines, thereby contributing to the university’s reputation. He also highlighted that through such engagements, the university aims to provide even greater support to its students in the future, both in terms of funding and facilitation.
Meanwhile, the Director of DITMAWALUMNI USU, Rahma Yurliani, S.Psi., M.Psi., reported that the number of USU students participating and excelling in regional, national, and international competitions continues to grow. These competitions span various fields, ranging from sports—such as the 14th Silent Knight Karate Cup in Malaysia—to religious events such as the International Quran Recitation Competition (MTQ) organized by Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK).
Rahma reaffirmed DITMAWALUMNI’s commitment to providing comprehensive support for students, including financial assistance and competition mentoring. She noted that several Student Activity Units (UKM) at USU are currently receiving coaching to enhance their readiness for upcoming competitions.
In recognition of student achievements, Rahma also mentioned that their accomplishments would be acknowledged through course credit recognition and incentives, which will be formally presented during the upcoming USU Awarding Night scheduled for early December 2025.
Furthermore, she emphasized that participation in competitions is more than the pursuit of awards—it represents a form of personal investment that builds resilience, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities. She expressed her hope that more USU students would strive for excellence and continue reporting their achievements to DITMAWALUMNI. Rahma also reminded students that USU remains open to receiving proposals and audience requests from those seeking to advance their academic and extracurricular achievements.
One of the distinguished students, Jasmine Anastasya Widy, extended her gratitude to USU for its continuous support, which enabled her to win Second Place in the Speech & Debate – Public Speaking category at the 10th Indonesian Vocational Olympiad (Olivia X) hosted by Universitas Brawijaya, Malang.
Another outstanding student, Muhammad Lutfi Kamil Siregar, who represented Indonesia at the 20th Asian Roller Skating Championships in Jecheon, South Korea, expressed his hope that more USU students will continue to achieve and bring honor to their alma mater on national and international stages.
