HUMAS USU-A total of 98 students of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) took the Oath / Promise of Pharmacists BatchXXXIV Graduates of the Even Semester of the 2022/2023 Academic Year, taking place at the USU Faculty of Pharmacy Hall. On Friday (09/15/2023).
By Government Regulations, new pharmacists who take the Pharmacist Oath / Promise are those who have carried out the National Student Competency Test (UKOM) in the Health Sector. This year the CBT (Computer Based Test) exam is an exit exam and the OSCE is formative.
This moment marks not only academic achievement but also the commitment of these students to contribute their pharmaceutical knowledge and expertise. Therefore, USU's Vice Chancellor I for Academic, Student Affairs, and Alumni Affairs, Dr. Edy Ikhsan, SH.MA, in his speech, appreciated the students who successfully entered the world of pharmacists.
"On behalf of the university leadership and the entire academic community, we congratulate the brothers and sisters who were inaugurated and took the oath as new pharmacists," said Dr. Edy.
The students who will be inaugurated come from various religious backgrounds. With 51 from Islam, 33 from Protestantism, 5 from Catholicism, and 9 from Buddhism. For this reason, they took the Pharmacist Oath / Promise by the religious procedures adopted.
WR I USU advised that the main characteristic of a professional is the spirit of lifelong learning. With the rapid advancement of technology and changes in people's lifestyles that are increasingly dependent on chemicals, they are expected to play an active role in educating the public.
"We order you to continue to increase your knowledge and make contributions through the growing technological advances," said WR I USU.
Vice Dean II of USU Pharmacy, Hari Ronaldo Tanjung, S.Si., M.Sc., Apt., is committed to continuing to graduate competent pharmacists, because the presence of pharmacists in pharmaceutical work is very important. This can be seen from the government that requires every health center to have a pharmacist.
"The government now requires that pharmaceutical work must be carried out by competent pharmaceutical personnel, and we are trying to fulfill this," said Hari.
Finally, Hari Ronaldo Tanjung, S.Si., M.Sc., Apt. hopes that the new pharmacist graduates can meet the needs of pharmaceutical workers throughout Indonesia. Thus, they can contribute to providing better information services to the government and society.
"Because if we pay attention, there are many areas that still need the presence of pharmaceutical workers and pharmacists in Indonesia," said Hari.
