USU Public Relations – The Alumni Association of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Sumatera Utara (IKA FEB USU) organized the Peoplemath Executive Seminar under the theme "A New Path to Developing Outstanding Individuals for Sustainable Organizational Performance" on Thursday (July 16, 2026), at the FISIP USU Auditorium.

The seminar featured the Rector of Universitas Sumatera Utara, Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si., as the keynote speaker. The event also welcomed two main speakers: Agus Dwi Handaya, author of Peoplemath and Chairman of IKA FEB USU, and Prof. Dr. Vivi Gusrini Rahmadani, M.Sc., M.A., Psikolog, Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Sumatera Utara.

In his opening remarks, Prof. Muryanto Amin expressed his appreciation for the contribution of USU alumni in introducing new perspectives in the field of human resource management.

"We are proud of our alumni who have succeeded in developing a new concept," he said.

He also emphasized that the concepts presented in the Peoplemath book offer practical solutions for understanding the complexities of leadership and achieving organizational goals.

"This book attempts to simplify the many challenges leaders face in achieving organizational targets," he added.

Meanwhile, Agus Dwi Handaya, author of Peoplemath and Chairman of IKA FEB USU, explained that organizational performance is determined not merely by systems or pressure from leaders, but by the values and beliefs that individuals hold within themselves.

According to him, many people work hard because they are driven by fear, whereas sustainable performance is built upon purpose, awareness, and meaningful engagement with work.

"If you want to achieve high performance with energy that is free from fear and anxiety, cultivate the right beliefs within yourself," he said.

He further emphasized the importance of self-reflection as a vital meta-skill, particularly in an era characterized by rapid technological advancement and an overwhelming flow of information. The ability to absorb, understand, and critically evaluate information, he noted, is essential for developing a resilient mindset and strong personal character.

"People who live according to their beliefs experience extraordinary fulfillment. When we work based on the right convictions, we no longer need to be pushed or pressured because the motivation comes from within ourselves," he explained.

Through this seminar, participants were expected to gain new insights into developing high-quality, adaptive, and competitive human resources, while fostering sustainable organizational performance through the strengthening of individual values, character, and intrinsic motivation.
