60 USU Students intern at PT Pos Indonesia

USU PUBLIC RELATIONS – MEDAN: At least 60 students from the Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) will participate in an internship at PT. Pos Indonesia (Persero) for the next six months. Students who take part in the internship come from across departments and faculties. Symbolically, Vice Rector I USU Vice Rector I Dr. Edy Ikhsan, SH, M.Hum., and Vice Rector III Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, S.Si., M.Si., Apt, handed over students to PT. Pos on Monday (8/30/2021 ) at the Post Office Hall, Jl. Pos No. 1 Medan
The 60 students who passed were the result of selection conducted by USU and PT Pos Indonesia.Students who pass will do an internship at PT Pos Indonesia (Persero) in the Regional 1 Sumatra office area.Present to give a speech at this event, USU's Vice Rector I said that this activity could encourage the birth of student creativity to make new breakthroughs by utilizing their knowledge for several full months and being able to complete activities that were an integral partof the lecture series.
"So our students are not ordinary internships but become "employees" of PT Pos, they are encouraged to love their work after graduation.And become a new entrepreneur who can become a partner of PT Pos," said Edy Ikhsan.
Furthermore, USU's Vice Rector III stated that the activity was a series of implementations of theIndependent Learning-Independent Campus.
“This internship program is a form of implementation of the Independent Learning-Independent Campus which is promoted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology.USU thanks PT Pos as one of our five partners for the implementation of the internship program," Poppy said.
Confirmed at the same time, Dino Ariyadi SE, MM, Executive Vice President of PT Pos Indonesia for the North Sumatra region stated that his party was ready to provide knowledge to interns.This is a form of PT Possupport for government programs.
"We are ready to collaborate for this government program.There are three things that we will emphasize to students, namely skills, knowledge, and attitude.We will provide leadership skills, communication skills, and marketing skills to increase student skills.After that we also impart knowledge about the company to them.We don't forget to instill an unyielding attitude and form a strong attitudein students," Dino said.
The internship students will be placed in 12 PT Pos locations.Each location will be filled by 4-5 students who will take turns in each location.In addition, a simulation will be conducted for students to lead the PTPosbranch officein the implementation of internships.
As is known, students who pass the activity are those who have been through a documents’ assessment.Student achievement and academic grades are the benchmarks in the selection.This internship activity has a weight of 20 credits.
“We hope that students will hone their soft and hard skills, and have a leadership spirit.We prepare this for future students who will enter the industrial world after they graduate," Poppy concluded.(RR/©ULC)
