191 Participants of USU KKN-PPM Released to Langkat

The University Secretary said that the KKN-PPM program during the Covid-19 pandemic was intended for USU to participate in the success of the government's program to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and overcome its impacts.
PR USU - Secretary of the Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) Prof. Dr. dr. M. Fidel Ganis Siregar, M.Ked (OG), SpOG(K) representing the USU Rector Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si released and dispatched the KKN-PPM Program Students. There were 191 students participating in USU's KKN-PPM from the Faculty of Engineering and the USU Faculty of Agriculture who were dispatched to Langkat Regency. The release ceremony was held at the USU Central Administration Bureau Building, Monday (21/03/2022).
The University Secretary said that the KKN-PPM program during the Covid-19 pandemic was intended for USU to participate in the success of the government's program to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and overcome its impacts.
"In addition, through this program, students can gain learning experiences outside their study program and are oriented to have 21st century skills needed in the Industry 4.0 era. They are communication, collaboration, critical thinking, creative thinking, computational logic and caring," he said. .
The KKN-PPM program is also expected to be part of community empowerment which aims to realize the progress of the development of the Indonesian nation in accordance with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
"I urge all participants to be serious in undergoing and implementing this KKN-PPM program," said Prof. Fidel.
Prof Fidel also hopes that there will be sustainable collaboration between USU and government institutions and private institutions in the Langkat district through this program. According to him, this collaboration will also lead to implementing the Independent Learning-Independent Campus (MBKM) Program.
"All parties involved will contribute in responding to the development of science, technology, and art, the needs of the community, as well as the needs of graduate users, as well as the application of the Tridharma spirit of higher education to produce graduates with BINTANG character," he said.
On the same occasion, Secretary of USU's LPPM Meuthia Nauly, S.Psi, M.Si Psychologist explained that these departed students had previously been given special briefing by the KKN manager and the BKK Team regarding what competencies must be understood. According to him, the community will be their teacher when undergoing KKN-PPM to see how the conditions in the area are.
“The competencies that must be possessed include sensitivity and how to establish good relations with the community. From the community, they will learn sensitivity, reality, and behavior,” he said.
Secretary of USU's LPPM hopes that through this program, graduates with BINTANG character will be developed with intelligence abilities that are processed according to their respective scientific and scientific fields and have good soft skills and character.
"This personality composition with positive values will later represent USU when it enters the community," he concluded.
