This community service program aims to empower rural women through the Batik Prima Jaya home industry to enhance local economic independence. The activities include education and batik training, enabling village women to become economically, intellectually, and socially independent.
Women’s empowerment is part of human development as one of the resources with great potential that can be developed in the context of national development. The phenomenon of women living in poor economic and environmental conditions, where the patriarchal cultural system has indirectly imposed limitations on them, has also created a close link between women’s identity and poverty. Therefore, to equalize this position, it is necessary to implement rural women’s empowerment activities through the Batik Prima Jaya home industry to improve local economic independence.
The purpose of this community service program is to shape individuals and communities to become independent. This independence includes economic independence, independence in thinking and acting, as well as control over what they do. Community empowerment aims for people to be self-reliant, have the potential to solve the problems they face, and be able to meet their needs without relying on external parties.
This program is carried out at the Batik Prima Jaya Home Industry, Tanjung Desa Perkebunan Kasau, Laut District, Tador Subdistrict, Batu Bara Regency. The method used is community empowerment through education on the importance of creating local economic independence, as well as batik training for unemployed village women.
