USU PUBLIC RELATIONS – Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) won four awards at the 2026 Anugerah Humas Indonesia (AHI). “This achievement is a source of pride for Universitas Sumatera Utara as well as a motivation to continuously improve the quality of public communication. Public relations plays a strategic role in delivering accurate information, building public trust, and strengthening the university’s reputation at both the national and international levels,” said the Rector.
Prof. Muryanto Amin emphasized that higher education institutions are not only expected to provide quality education and research, but must also be able to communicate their achievements, contributions, and various programs transparently and responsibly to the public.

Meanwhile, University Secretary of Universitas Sumatera Utara Ir. Ikhsan Siregar, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D., said that the awards provided encouragement to strengthen integrated institutional communication governance based on the principles of accountability and information transparency.

According to Ikhsan Siregar, synergy among work units is one of the important aspects in ensuring that university information is communicated consistently, in a timely manner, and in accordance with the needs of stakeholders.

“These awards encourage us to continue delivering public communication that is creative, relevant, and impactful. We view public relations not merely as a publication activity, but as a strategic function that bridges the university and society through credible and accountable information,” she said.
She added that the achievements in the Gen X and Gen Z Kartini Humas categories demonstrate the importance of contributions from human resources across generations in developing institutional communication. Meanwhile, the award in the Internal Magazine category reflects the importance of internal media as a means of fostering connectedness and shared understanding within the university community.
