USU PUBLIC RELATIONS – Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), through its Faculty of Vocational Studies, held the Professional Oath Ceremony for the Diploma III Pharmacy and Food Analysts Study Program on Wednesday (October 28, 2026), at the USU Faculty of Vocational Studies Hall. The event marked an important moment for graduates to reaffirm their commitment to practicing their profession responsibly, upholding ethical standards, and contributing to the quality and safety of pharmaceutical and food products available to the public.

In his remarks, Director of the USU Directorate of Educational Development, representing the USU Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. Rudi Hartono, S.Hut., M.Si., IPM., stated that the professional oath was not merely a ceremonial formality, but a moral commitment for graduates to perform their duties with honesty, discipline, and responsibility. He emphasized that pharmacy and food analysts play an important role in ensuring the quality of products used by the public.

“A professional oath is a moral commitment to carrying out one’s duties with honesty, discipline, and responsibility while consistently upholding ethical principles and professional standards,” he said.

He also stressed that technical competence must go hand in hand with integrity, particularly when producing accurate and reliable analytical data. According to him, technological developments and changing work standards require professionals to continually update their knowledge and improve their skills.

“Never compromise safety or sacrifice integrity for short-term convenience. Public trust is built through consistency in maintaining quality and fulfilling responsibilities,” he emphasized.

The Head of the Pharmaceutical Services Section at the North Sumatra Provincial Health Office, Nelly Murni, S.Si., Apt., representing the Head of the Health Office, also expressed her appreciation to the graduates who had completed their vocational pharmacy education. She hoped that they would contribute to healthcare development through hospitals and other healthcare facilities, while adapting to evolving regulations and the needs of the healthcare sector.

“Congratulations to all of you who have completed your vocational pharmacy education. May you contribute to development, particularly in the healthcare sector,” she said.

Representing the vocational pharmacy graduates, M. Firzi Putra Bangun, A.Md.Kes., expressed his gratitude to the lecturers who had guided the students throughout their studies. He also acknowledged the support of parents and families, whose encouragement had played an important role in helping the graduates reach this milestone in taking their professional oath.

“Thank you to our lecturers for guiding us not only through knowledge, but also through the values of responsibility and exemplary conduct. We also thank our parents and families for their prayers, support, and unwavering love,” he said.
