USU's S3 Linguistics Study Program for the First Time Produce a Doctor from Mandarin Study Program

The Linguistics Study Program at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) of the Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) gave birth to a doctorate from the Mandarin study program for the first time. This was after Tengku Kasa Rullah Adha, S.S., MTCSOL., successfully defended his dissertation in the Doctoral Promotion exam (Open Session), Thursday (9/12/2021).

This was after Tengku Kasa Rullah Adha, S.S., MTCSOL., successfully defended his dissertation in the Doctoral Promotion exam (Open Session), Thursday (9/12/2021).
The lecturer, who is currently the Secretary of the Chinese Language Study Program at USU's FIB, defended his dissertation entitled "The Process of Determining the Competence of Mandarin to Indonesian Students: A Case Study of the Mandarin Language Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara" before the Academic Session of the USU Faculty of Cultural Sciences.
Head of Linguistics Study Program Dr. Mulyadi, M.Hum said that the success of Dr. Tengku Kasa being the first doctor of a Mandarin study program will be the trigger for the birth of the next doctor. “I hope that the achievements made by Dr. Tengku Kasa can strengthen the existing human resources in the Mandarin Study Program in particular, and the USU FIB," said Dr. Mulyadi.
Dr. Tengku Kasa Rullah Adha, S.S., MTCSOL said that in his dissertation he saw how students can or cannot become translators, especially in their competence.
"Because we see that now many are asked to become translators in the world of work, so I see the potential of my students to become translators," explained Dr. Tengku Kasa. He also revealed that after this he will focus on improving the competence of FIB students to be able to compete in the national and international world of work.
"I will give my best so that the Mandarin Study Program can be more advanced," he said. Tengku Kasa Rullah Adha, S.S., MTCSOL who has won the highest academic degree.
"Hopefully the knowledge gained can be useful for others, especially for the progress of USU in general and in particular the Mandarin Language Study Program, FIB USU," said Edy Ikhsan.
