Medan, August 30, 2026 — Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) has once again been entrusted as one of the host universities for the 2026 Kemitraan Negara Berkembang (KNB) Scholarship Program. This year, USU welcomes three international students who have been awarded KNB scholarships. They come from Syria, Tanzania, and Madagascar and will pursue master’s and doctoral degrees at USU.

The three students are Ali Ali from Syria, who will pursue a Master’s degree in Dentistry; Abdul Latif Juma Said from Tanzania, who will pursue a Doctoral degree in Public Health; and Yvan Gael Ramarozakahery from Madagascar, who will pursue a Master’s degree in Animal Science at USU.

The students began their journey from their respective home countries on August 28, 2026. After an international journey, all three arrived in Jakarta on August 29 before continuing their trip to Medan the following day. On August 30, the three KNB scholarship students arrived at Kualanamu International Airport in Deli Serdang and subsequently continued their journey to Universitas Sumatera Utara.

The arrival of the 2026 KNB scholarship students is part of USU’s commitment to strengthening its role as a world-class university and expanding its academic network with institutions and communities in various countries. The presence of students from diverse cultural and national backgrounds is expected not only to enrich the academic experience but also to create opportunities for the exchange of knowledge, culture, and global perspectives among members of the USU academic community.

Through the KNB Scholarship Program, international students are given the opportunity to pursue higher education in Indonesia while gaining a closer understanding of the country’s social and cultural life as well as its developments in science and knowledge. For USU, the presence of KNB scholarship students is also an important part of its higher education internationalization agenda and efforts to strengthen the university’s position as a destination for international students.

The three students will subsequently complete various administrative procedures and participate in orientation activities as international students at USU before commencing their academic activities in their respective study programs. USU’s Office of International Affairs (KUI) will assist them throughout their arrival and adaptation process, including by providing information on academic life, immigration administration, and other needs they may have during their studies at USU.

USU warmly welcomes the three KNB 2026 scholarship students and hopes that their time at USU will be meaningful, productive, and provide them with memorable academic and cultural experiences.
