USU PUBLIC RELATIONS – MEDAN: Universitas Sumatera Utara remains consistent in international collaboration in order to realize its vision and carry out its mission. One of the international collaborations currently underway is a competency improvement project in the automotive sector known as UNITED.

This was conveyed by the Head of USU's UNITED-ERASMUS Project, Prof.Dr.Eng.Himsar Ambarita ST, MT, Wednesday (8/12/2021).UNITED is an acronym for Engineering Knowledge Transfer Units to Increase Student's Employability and Regional Development.This project is a consortium involving 3 universities from Europe, 6 universities from ASEAN and 2 partners from the automotive industry.

The members of this consortium are FH JOANNEUM (Austria), Politecnico di Torino (Italy), Aachen University of Applied Sciences (Germany), Universitas Sumatera Utara (Indonesia), Udayana University (Indonesia), Universiti Putra Malaysia (Malaysia), Universiti Teknikal Malaysia. Melaka (Malaysia), Chulalongkorn University (Thailand), Mahasarakham University (Thailand), DreamEDGE Sdn.Bhd.(Industrial in Malaysia) and Atipong Motor Co.,Ltd (Industry in Thailand).

The UNITED project consists of 8 activity groups (8 WP) funded by Erasmus+.One of the activities of the UNITED project is to build an inter-country network specifically in the automotive sector.This network container is called the Southeast Asia Automotive Interest Group (SAIG) Network.The vision of the SAIG ​​network is to become a major collaborative network in the automotive community in Southeast Asia involving the education and industry communities in the automotive sector.(https://www.saig-united.com).

On August 25, 2021, SAIG ​​will hold a webinar that will present speaker Dipl.-Ing Thomas Lechner from FH Joanneun Austria."We hope that automotive development enthusiasts in Indonesia and surrounding countries can join the event," Prof. Himsar said. (©ULC)
