PR USU - Professional Engineer Study Program (PSPPI) Faculty of Engineering (FT) Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) officially inaugurated 55 engineers. The inauguration was attended by the Secretary General of the Indonesian Engineers Association (PII), Ir. Bambang Goeritno, M.Sc., MPA., IPU was held at the USU Student Center on Monday (7/25/2022).

At the inauguration, USU's Vice Rector I for Academic, Student and Alumni Affairs, Dr. Edy Ikhsan, SH, MA, said that the newly inaugurated engineers could be dedicated to the advancement of civilization and development.

"As we said earlier, the 55 engineers who were appointed today are expected not only to pursue their lives but also to dedicate themselves to the development of civilization," said Dr. Eddy.

Dr. Edy highlighted that there are still a small number of engineering lecturers at the USU Faculty of Engineering with the title of engineer. Therefore, he hopes that in the following year more and more lecturers of the Faculty of Engineering will be able to take part in the professional engineering program.

"We are trying to make more and more Engineering Faculty lecturers able to take part in the professional engineering program so that one day 100 percent of the FT lecturers will have an engineering degree," he said.

On the same occasion, Dean of FT USU Dr. Ir. Fahmi ST, MSc, IPM said that the professional engineering program is a priority for the USU Faculty of Engineering in developing student admissions capacity, in addition to supporting PSPPI in accepting many engineering graduates so that more engineering graduates are produced.

"We are also preparing that all engineering graduates can be accommodated to get a profession, so we continue to support PSPPI under Mrs. Nurul and we continue to develop in the future so that more students can be accepted into the engineering profession and produce more engineering graduates," Ir. Fahmi said.

Head of PS PPI Dr. eng. Ir. Listiani Nurul Huda MT hopes that this USU PSPPI graduate has legality after being registered at the Indonesian Engineers Association so that they can take part and synergize with the USU Faculty of Engineering and the world of professionalism.

"We first register our graduates in collaboration with the Indonesian Engineers Association in the North Sumatra region, so that these engineer graduates from PSPPI FT USU are registered with clear legality and after that they can work together, synergize, of course, with the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, we collaborate with each other as well as with the world of professionalism outside of FT and USU in particular,” Ir. Listiani mentioned.

Ir. Listiani also said that the graduates of the PS PPI FT USU engineer will be able to take part in life, especially advancing the economy, then contributing knowledge, and implementing implementation in the community in accordance with the contents of the engineer's oath itself. (©ULC)
