FK USU Holds Handover Ceremony for New Specialist, Master’s, and Subspecialist Students for August 2026

“Saudara-saudara sekalian telah berhasil melewati proses seleksi yang kompetitif, dan kini telah menjadi bagian dari komunitas akademik Fakultas Kedokteran USU yang memiliki reputasi unggul dan dedikasi tinggi dalam membentuk tenaga medis profesional dan berintegritas,” jelas Prof. Poppy.
USU PR – The Faculty of Medicine of Universitas Sumatera Utara (FK USU) held a handover ceremony for new students of its Specialist, Master’s in Clinical Medicine, and Subspecialist Programs on Monday (August 10, 2026). The event took place in the Seminar Room on the fourth floor of FK USU.
The ceremony marked an important moment for newly admitted students who had successfully passed the selection process. They were officially handed over from the university to the faculty as they began their academic journey at FK USU. A total of 120 students were admitted to the Specialist 1 (Sp-1) Program, while 13 students were admitted to the Specialist 2 (Sp-2) Program.
Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Alumni, Prof. Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, S.Si., M.Si., Apt., congratulated and expressed her appreciation to all students who had successfully passed the selection process.
“You have successfully passed a competitive selection process and have now become part of the academic community of the Faculty of Medicine at Universitas Sumatera Utara, which has an excellent reputation and a strong commitment to developing professional and integrity-driven medical personnel,” said Prof. Poppy.
She also emphasized the importance of integrity, a commitment to learning, and empathy throughout medical education.
“Never stop learning, and always maintain empathy. Patients are not merely diagnoses; they are human beings who entrust you with their hopes and their lives,” she said.
Dean of FK USU, Dr. dr. Muara Panusunan Lubis, M.Ked(OG), Sp.O.G., Subsp.K.Fm, also stated that the admission of the new students was the result of a lengthy and rigorous selection process.
“This is not merely about being admitted administratively; it is the beginning of a long academic journey. You must prepare yourselves mentally, physically, and in terms of time to complete this education on schedule,” he said.
He also emphasized the importance of maintaining proper ethics and conduct throughout the educational process, both within the faculty and at teaching hospitals.
“As members of FK USU, you carry the name of the institution. Maintain your attitude, behavior, and interactions with everyone, especially patients, because they are at the center of our learning process,” he added.
Furthermore, Dr. dr. Muara Panusunan Lubis explained that the students were required to sign an integrity pact as a commitment to comply with applicable regulations.
“We ask them to sign an integrity pact as a commitment to follow all regulations. Hopefully, with this commitment, the learning process can run smoothly and they can graduate on time,” he said.
Chair of the TKP-PPDS FK USU, Dr. dr. Almaycano Ginting, M.Kes., M.Ked (Clin.Path)., Sp.PK, also highlighted the challenges currently facing specialist medical education, particularly ensuring an adequate number of patients as a medium for clinical learning.
“The challenge we face today is ensuring that there are enough patients to support the educational process. Therefore, we continue to expand our clinical training sites so that students can achieve the required competencies to the fullest,” he said.
