About SNBT
SNBT (National Test-Based Selection) is a national selection system for the admission of new students to replace SBMPTN (Joint Selection for State Higher Education Institution Entrance) managed by Center for Educational Testing Management (BP3) in cooperation with state higher education institutions (PTN). In the SNBT pathway, universities use a national written exam pattern. In the 2023/2024 academic year, students who obtain an SMA/MA/SMK diploma have the right to choose to continue their studies at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) in either the undergraduate or diploma programs through UTBK (computer-based examination) selection. The registration stages for SNBT in 2023 are expected to be the same as the stages in previous years, although the details may still change according to the policies of the SNBT committee. Before registering, prospective students must meet the following requirements: The first SNBT requirement is an SNPMB account. Prospective students must be Indonesian citizens (WNI) and have a national identity number (NIK). 2023 SMA/MA/SMK or equivalent prospective students must have a 2023 Grade 12 Student or Package C Student Certificate with a maximum age of 25 years as of July 1, 2023. A recent colored photo, school stamp, and the principal's signature should accompany the Grade 12 Student Certificate. Other participants can also take part in the UTBK-SNBT if they meet the requirements as secondary education graduates in a maximum of the last three years. If the prospective student meets the requirements, they can then register.
The registration stage begins with registering an SNBT account through the official SNBT website (https://snpmb.bppp.kemdikbud.go.id) using NISN, NPSN, and date of birth according to the instructions provided. Make sure the data entered is correct and complete. If appropriate, please verify and validate the data on the existing menu. Then, prospective students will enter the intended study program selection stage and a series of related administrative processes. After uploading the portfolio and payment slip, students can make the UTBK-SNBT payment through a bank or online payment service appointed by the SNBT committee. In the final stage, students will print their participant cards and be ready to participate in the UTBK-SNBT on the specified day and schedule.

Currently, USU provides at least 30% of the total capacity of undergraduate and diploma programs through the SNBT pathway. The 2023 SNBT Schedule starts from March 23–April 14 for UTBK-SNBT registration. Then, on May 08–14, the first batch of UTBK will be held, continued by the second batch on May 22–28. The SNBT results will be announced on June 20, 2023. Those of you who pass SNBT can then download the UTBK certificate from June 26 to July 31, 2023.
