National Test-Based Selection (SNBT)

About SNBT

SNBT (National Selection Based on Test) is a national selection system for new student admissions to replace SBMPTN (Joint Selection for State Universities). In the SNBT pathway, state universities use a national written exam pattern. In the 2024/2025 Academic Year, students who obtain a high school / MA / SMK certificate are entitled to choose to continue their studies at the Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), both in undergraduate and diploma programs through UTBK (Computer-Based Written Test) selection. SNBT registration stages in 2025 are expected to be the same as in previous years, but the implementation of UTBK this year will be carried out in only one wave, although the details are still subject to change in accordance with the SNBT committee's policy.

Currently, the Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) provides a minimum of 30% of the total capacity of undergraduate and diploma programs through the SNBT route.

Participant Requirements

Participants must have an SNPMB Student Account. SNPMB Student Account registration can be done through the SNPMB Portal.
Indonesian citizens (WNI) who have a National Identification Number (NIK).
Senior High School (SMA), Vocational High School (SMK), or Islamic Senior High School (MA) students in grade 12 or the final year in 2025, or Paket C students in 2025 with a maximum age of 25 years (as of July 1, 2025).
Students who do not yet have a diploma must provide a certificate of grade 12 enrollment, which must at least include:
- Identity details, including name, class, National Student Identification Number (NISN), and School Identification Number (NPSN);
- A recent colored passport-sized photo;
- Signature of the School/Madrasah Principal;
- Official school stamp/seal.
Graduates of SMA/SMK/MA or equivalent from 2023 and 2024, or Paket C graduates from 2024 and 2023, with a maximum age of 25 years (as of July 1, 2025).
Graduates of equivalent high schools from abroad must have their diplomas officially recognized.
Participants selecting study programs in the fields of Arts and/or Sports must upload a portfolio.
Must be in adequate health to ensure smooth academic activities.
Visually impaired participants must upload a Blindness Declaration Letter.
Pay the UTBK fee (except for KIP-Kuliah participants).

Requirements

General Terms

SNBT participants are only allowed to take the UTBK 2025 once.
The results of UTBK 2025 are only valid for participating in SNBT and admissions to PTN in 2025.
SNBT 2025 is conducted based on UTBK 2025 results, plus portfolios for participants who choose arts and/or sports programs.

Additional Terms

Students who have passed the SNBP 2025, SNBP 2024, and SNBP 2023 pathway selection cannot participate in UTBK-SNBT 2025.

Study Program Options

Each participant is free to choose a study program at PTN Akademik and/or PTN Vokasi.
Each participant is allowed to choose a maximum of 4 (four) study programs with the provisions as attached table.
The order of the study program selection indicates the priority of choice.

3 Program Study Choicesadd

Selection Conditions:

2 academic programs and 1 vocational program; or
1 academic program and 2 vocational programs; or
3 vocational programs with at least 1 Diploma Three program.

2 Bachelor and 1 Diploma Four/Applied Bachelor; or
2 Bachelor and 1 Diploma Three; or
1 Bachelor and 2 Diploma Four/Applied Bachelor; or
1 Bachelor and 2 Diploma Three; or
1 Bachelor, 1 Diploma Four/Applied Bachelor, and 1 Diploma Three; or
2 Diploma Four/Applied Bachelor and 1 Diploma Three; or
3 Diploma Three.

4 Program Study Choicesadd

2 academic programs and 2 vocational programs, with at least 1 Diploma Three program; or
1 academic program and 3 vocational programs, with at least 1 Diploma Three program.

2 Bachelor, 1 Diploma Four/Applied Bachelor, and 1 Diploma Three; or
2 Bachelor and 2 Diploma Three; or
1 Bachelor, 2 Diploma Four/Applied Bachelor, and 1 Diploma Three; or
1 Bachelor, 1 Diploma Four/Applied Bachelor, and 2 Diploma Three; or
1 Bachelor and 3 Diploma Three.
