USU's 6th International Conference Discusses Neuroscience

HUMAS USU - Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held an international conference titled The Impact of Early Life Stress On Neuroscience at the Grand Mercure Hotel on Wednesday-Thursday (17-18/03/2023).


The event was virtually attended by the Indonesian Minister of Health, Ir. Budi Gunadi Sadikin, CHFC, CLU, who expressed that the government wants universities to provide improvements in the health sector and implement programs.


“I hope this conference can be an opportunity for people to have more access to mental health,” said Minister of Health Ir. Budi Gunadi Sadikin.


On the same occasion, the Secretary of USU, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Fidel Ganis Siregar, M. Ked (OG), Sp. OG (K)-Fer, in his remarks, stated that USU hopes this conference can bring together researchers and clinicians in the fields of neuroscience, neurology, and psychiatry to work together to address important issues and exchange information about neurology.


“I hope USU can become an exemplary and reputable knowledge center, especially in the field of neurology and psychiatry,” said Prof. Fidel.


Meanwhile, the Dean of the USU Faculty of Medicine (FK), Prof. Dr. dr. Aldy Safruddin Rambe, Sp.S (K), hoped this activity would continue beyond this conference.


“We hope that there will be further activities in the form of networking, collaborative student exchanges, especially for residents, exchange of teaching staff and collaborative research between countries.”


Previously, this conference was a form of consistency and seriousness from USU in encouraging collaboration with various parties related to neuroscience, neurology and psychiatry. It is expected that through this event, USU will publish several scientific papers that will be submitted to reputable journals, which will have an impact on the Key Performance Indicator assessment and USU ranking.
