The inauguration of Usman Kansong as Dirjen IKP Kemenkominfo was carried out at 09.00am at the Media Center, the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Jakarta.

The inauguration was based on the Decree of the President of the Republic of Indonesia No.108/TPA of 2021 concerning the appointment of middle high leadership officials within the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.

“On Tuesday, August 10, 2021, I am the Minister of Communication and Information Technology, hereby officially inaugurate you in a new position within the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology,” Menkominfo, Johnny Gerard Plate, said through a virtual broadcast.

USU Rector, Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si., congratulated Usman Kansong on his inauguration. “In addition to the 1991 USU FISIP alumni, he is also a member of the USU MWA for the period 2021-2025,” he said.

Dr. Mury said that the inauguration of one of USU alumni to become high ranking officials in the ministry is a pride that should be appreciated. This, he added, indicates that USU alumni are able to compete and be counted on the national level.

“Actually, it’s not only Usman Kansong who has succeeded at the national level. There are also several names. We hope that the achievement of USU alumni can be spread out and inspire, both USU students and also alumni who are currently pursuing careers,” he emphasized.

Usman Kansong himself is known as a person who has experience working in a national media companies, including Republika, Metro TV, to Media Indonesia daily.

As for his brief history, Usman Kansong worked at the Republika Daily (1995-200). Since 200, he has worked at Metro TV (2000-2009) with the last position as News Current Affairs Manager. Since 2009 until now, he has worked at the Media Indonesia Daily with current position as Chairman of the Editorial Board of Media Group. (©ULC)
