Harmony in Urban Development, Preserving Heritage, and Shaping the Future

The sustainable settlement and city management program in Indonesia is also one of the priorities in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations. Along with population growth and rapid urbanization, challenges such as spatial inequality, pollution, urban poverty, and socio-economic imbalances are increasing. This program aims to create inclusive, safe, disaster-resilient and sustainable cities in Indonesia. The University of North Sumatra (USU) plays an active role in supporting this program with various initiatives and collaborations. USU contributes to developing knowledge and innovative solutions to build sustainable cities and settlements through research, education, and community service. Through this program, USU is committed to strengthening local capacity, promoting the use of renewable energy, managing waste wisely, increasing the accessibility of public transportation, and improving the quality of the environment in the surrounding area. By involving students, staff and the community, USU encourages active participation in efforts to create sustainable cities and settlements in Indonesia.
