"The Rector of USU appreciated the interesting theme raised in IICoLA. In this activity that can improve academic quality, it is hoped that there will be discussions in the form of joint research, discussing solutions to various problems, sharing experiences, as well as listening to various ideas from the audience."

USU Public Relations - Doctoral Program Linguistics Study Program Postgraduate Program Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara held The 4th International Interdisciplinary Conference on Language Affairs (IICoLA) with the theme "Emotion in Multidisciplinary Studies". This activity was held through a zoom meeting on Tuesday, (10/18/2022).

IICoLA was held with 4 sessions, namely Plenary I, Plenary II, Parallel Session I, and Parallel Session II. This event presented speakers from York University, Dr. Brian Morgan, University of British Columbia Dr. Anwar Ahmed, Curtin University Associate. Prof. Dr. Sender Dovchin, Umea University Dr. Heli Tissari, and Prof. Udayana University. Dr. I. Nengah Sudipa, M.A.

Rector of the Universitas Sumatera Utara Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si appreciated the interesting themes raised in IICoLA. Academic quality can be improved in this activity and it is hoped that there will be discussions in the form of joint research, discussing solutions to various problems, sharing experiences, as well as listening to various ideas from the audience.


"We must set our research, our finding races, and then we can talk together to make some solutions, to hear many ideas from our resources, to share each other and our experiences about the emotion in interdisciplinary studies," the USU Rector said.


Dean of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara, Dr. T. Thyraya Zein, M.A hopes that this annual conference which aims to increase the mobility of lecturers can also broaden the horizons of the audience and establish cooperation between institutions.


"For sure, not only to broaden the horizons and increase the knowledge of the participants, but also to establish cooperation and work networks between institutions, researchers and presenters, guests," the dean said.


Head of Linguistics Study Program Dr. Mulyadi, M.Hum hopes that this international conference can strengthen cooperation. In addition, the holding of this conference can also support the Universitas Sumatera Utara towards a World Class University.


“I hope that this international conference can strengthen the collaboration with the men's speakers of this contrast personally and institutionally, especially speakers from abroad. In addition, we hope that the implementation of this conference can support the Universitas Sumatera Utara to become a World Class University," he said. (©ULC)
