Theme:
The Role of Chemistry and Polymer Expertise on The Proceeing of Agro-based Natural Resource

                                                Tiara Convention Centre
                                                     Medan, Indonesia
                                                    18-20th May 2009

Indonesian economi and entreprises have been subseptible to global crisis, due to their commodity oriented products. Various agricultural and plantation product, especially in Sumatra island and Indonesia in general, such as: palm oil, natural rubber, wood, biomass, and other natural resources have not been processed to end-product and only been exported as commodities. Whereas several synthetic consumer product, including: foods, medicines, as well as polymeric and other engineering materials have to be imported to fulfill domestic demans. Processing of the renewable natural resources requires as well as polymer material expertise to increase value-added of the product, which inturn minimise subseptibility of Indonesia economy against the global crisis. Other issues, such as: environmental concern, declining of mineral oil production, and growing population, have to be adressed in designing state-of-the-art of the processing techniques. Green production using alternative renewable raw materials is a must, whereas the country growing population can be both as abundant labour force and domestic market for the precessing product.
